Ward Away Worries and Stress with Pregnenolone

Pregnenolone is one of the most important hormones produced by our body. Considering its essential role in maintaining overall health and vitality of the body, it is often considered as the mother of all steroid hormones present in the human body.

Though pregnenolone is not a steroid hormone in itself, it pregnenolone which triggers the production of all other steroid hormones in the body such as cortisone, Progesterone, estrogen, testosterone and DHEA. This essential hormone is produced in the mitochondria of cells present in the adrenal gland and the central nervous system.

Use and role of Pregnenolone as an anti inflammatory medication and stress relief drug was first studied in the 1940s and 1950s involving some factory workers as the subjects. Use of pregnenolone showed increased productivity and reduced stress in the workers. Moreover, many workers suffering from arthritis and allergies also benefited from this drug, as pregnenolone remarkably reduced the inflammation and pain associated with the condition.

However, due to the discovery of cortisol and its advantages during the same time period overshadowed pregnenolone as an anti depressant medicine. Interest in pregnenolone anti anxiety and anti inflammatory benefits was rekindled in the 1990s as pregnenolone was found to be the precursor of all steroid and stress busting hormones.

Moreover, it was also observed that with time, the levels of pregnenolone decline in the body leading to the further diminished levels of other stress busting hormones in the body. By the time people reach the age of 70, 60% pregnenolone is already reduced in their bodies. This is another reason for many elderly people disposed to worrying about minor issues, feeling low and deprived of energy, lacking in interest in day to activities, forgetting things, falling frequently into depression and other disorders etc.

Sometimes, in certain specific conditions such as stress, depression, hypothyroidism and toxin exposure pregnenolone levels in an individual decline at a much faster rate than normal making a person prone to stress and disease. Such conditions also increase a person's requirement for pregnenolone supplementation for proper mental and physical health.

Thus pregnenolone has multiple benefits ranging from its use an anti depressant medicine for depressed people to anti inflammatory medication for arthritis treatment to enhancing memory in the elderly to fighting fatigue and brightening the mood for an overall sense of well being and optimum health. Consult a doctor for the correct dosage for your particular need and condition.
